Notes:

Luther Johnson Norman came to Texas in late 1895 with his wife and 4 oldest children. The others were born in Texas.

Rebecca - Luther Johnson was "farmed out" as a boy to work on a plantation.  Daddy (Ralph Norman) told stories of his dad and the other young boys who worked there.  One I remember is how the plantations had small holes cut in the wallboard so the cats could run through chasing the mice.  Our granddad and cohorts would get the cats running through the house (and holes) and then stick an iron in the hole and the cats would knock themselves out.

Eric - Dad (Isaac Norman) once told me that his father, Luther Norman as a young boy in Georgia held the lantern for Alexander Stephens, the Vice President (ex) of the Confederacy, as he gave a speech.

Kathy - My Mother (Susie Norman) told me that her Father and Mother, Luther Johnson Norman and Nannie came to Texas because Texas had a school for his son Larry who was deaf.

Another possible reason is because the Georgia soil was exausted from years of cotton farming.
